Itinerary
Giorno 1 — Kuala Lumpur
After immigration formalities, passport control, baggage retrieval, and customs, you will be greeted by a local guide and transferred to the hotel. The room is available starting from 15.00. The visit begins in the afternoon. Around 2:30 pm, I will meet the guide in the hotel lobby and begin the discovery of Kuala Lumpur. The tour will start with a visit to the colorful and unique Thean Hou Buddhist Temple, then continue through the lush Lake Garden with its tropical nature and stop in front of the modern National Mosque before reaching the old white stone Railway Station, built by the British. From there, we will arrive at Independence Square, the center of old Kuala Lumpur, which was born in the 19th century around tin mines. We will proceed with a walking tour to discover the old city streets lined with typical small Malay/colonial style buildings (shop houses) and the popular markets of Central Market and Chinatown, near which the colorful Sri Mahamariamman Hindu temple is also located. Finally, we will reach the iconic Petronas Twin Towers to take beautiful photos of this technological marvel. I return to the hotel and the evening is free. Lunch and dinner free.

Giorno 2 — Kuala Lumpur → Malacca → Kuala Lumpur
Breakfast. Early in the morning departure for Melaka. Km 120 - hours 2 approximately. Around 07:45/08:00, meet your guide in the hotel lobby and depart for the historic city of Malacca, rich in temples, markets and mosques. The visit begins with a boat ride along the Melaka River, approaching the city centre by water. The historic buildings preserved in the city have contributed to Malacca being inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. Continue to the Clock Tower Square, home to the Dutch-style Stadthuys (Town Hall), before climbing St. Paul’s Hill, where the ruins of the church of the same name can be found. The city tour ends at the Porta de Santiago, the only remaining trace of the last bastion of the former Portuguese fortress of “A Famosa”, which was later destroyed by the British. Take a walk along Jonker Street, the main street of Chinatown, renowned for its traditional shops. From here, continue to Harmony Street, so called because temples belonging to the region’s main religions stand side by side in peaceful coexistence. Here you will find the historic Chinese Cheng Hoon Teng Temple and the Kampung Kling Mosque. Lunch at a restaurant. I return to the hotel and the evening is free.

Giorno 3 — Kuala Lumpur → Batu Caves → Cameron Highlands
Breakfast. Early in the morning departure for Cameron Highlands. Short stop at Batu Caves. The Hindu Sanctuary of Batu Caves, one of the most important outside of India. After climbing the 272 steps that lead to the Murugan Sanctuary, one of the most revered deities of Hinduism, you can enjoy a splendid view of the city and also encounter the friendly monkeys (macaques) constantly searching for food. These impressive caves are still a pilgrimage destination, especially during the most important Hindu festival in Asia, Thaipusam, celebrated during the Tamil month of full moon (January/February). Continuation to Cameron Highlands. We will travel up the Malay Peninsula to the town of Tapah, where the mountain road begins that will take us to an altitude of 1500 meters. This area is rich in lush tropical vegetation and bamboo. Along the way, we will make a stop at the Iskandar waterfall, and we will also come across several simple villages inhabited by the Orang Asli, the indigenous people of the Malay Peninsula who still largely rely on gathering natural fibers and hunting for their livelihood. We are expected to arrive at the Cameron Highlands plateau in the afternoon. Located on the northwestern border of the state of Pahang, this is the largest cultivated plain in Malaysia, alternating with lush and wild high-altitude forests. Famous for its tea plantations and mild temperatures, which provide relief from the equatorial heat, the Highlands are named after the English topographer William Cameron, who first mapped the area. The Cameron Highlands still retain a characteristic belle époque style, with its orderly farms, Tudor-style country houses, English gardens, and golf courses. In the afternoon, we will enjoy a pleasant and characteristic Afternoon Tea, and then visit some local fruit and vegetable markets. I will arrive at the hotel in the late afternoon. Lunch and dinner free.

Giorno 4 — Cameron Highlands → Ipoh → Bukit Merah → Penang
Breakfast. In the morning, visit one of the many tea plantations where you will witness the various processing stages. Then, start the descent towards Ipoh, the capital of the Perak State, where you will walk through old streets in the city center, admiring its refined colonial architecture. With the Kinta River dividing the old city from the new one, Ipoh enchants with its art and street food - a bit like a languid version of George Town. You will visit one of the many Buddhist temples carved into the rock. Continuing north, we finally arrive at Bukit Merah, a small island on the lake that can be reached by boat. It is home to the Orangutan Conservation Center, the only one of its kind on the Malay Peninsula. In this center, these primates, found orphaned or near death in the Malaysian Borneo jungle, are housed to undergo a course of care and rehabilitation. Various aspects of research and study on these primates are also addressed, with the aim of raising awareness among federal authorities and future generations about the endangered future of orangutans. After visiting the center, the journey will continue towards the state of Penang. In the afternoon, arrival on the island will be expected, crossing one of the longest bridges in Asia, the Penang Bridge, which is exactly 13.5 km long. I will arrive at the hotel in the late afternoon. Lunch and dinner free.
PLEASE NOTE: The tea plantation is closed to the public on Mondays and during national holidays. The excursion to the Orangutan Island in Bukit Merah may not be possible due to low water levels.
Giorno 5 — Penang
Breakfast. Early in the morning, I meet the guide at the hotel and we set off to visit the city of Georgetown: its unique historical features have made it a UNESCO site. We start the visit at Kek Lok Si, which consists of 7 temples and a tall Pagoda, all characterized by carved pillars, precious woodwork, vibrant paintings, and an abundance of lanterns that create a visually striking impression. After descending back into the city, we pass by the ruins of Fort Cornwallis, the headquarters of the English military/colonial detachment. From here, we take a walking tour through the typical streets of the old town center with its charming and artistic murals; open-air food and spice markets that allow us to taste the daily life of this city, as well as small artisan shops that produce utensils, incense sticks for use in temples, and local pastries. After passing by the Kapitan Kling Mosque and the beautiful St. George Church, a symbol of the large local Christian community, we walk through narrow streets where old housing complexes of the Chinese/Malay Peranakan community stand. Here, we visit the beautiful Khoo Kongsi clan house: named after a prominent Chinese family who were among the wealthy Chinese merchants of the 17th century. The famous Khoo Kongsi temple was built in 1906, when the Khoo clan was at the height of their wealth and eminence in Penang society. At the end of the visit, transfer to the airport. End of the tour.
