Giorno 1 — Edimburgo
Arrival at Edinburgh or Glasgow airport, collection of the hire car and a short drive to the centre of Edinburgh. From your very first stroll you sense the unique charm of this city: cobbled streets, historic buildings and an atmosphere suspended between past and present.
The day is devoted to discovering the most iconic sights of the Scottish capital. You begin with Edinburgh Castle, one of the most spectacular fortresses in Europe, where you can admire the Scottish crown jewels and the famous witches' well. Descending the Royal Mile you come to St Giles' Cathedral and the Mercat Cross, the ancient site of royal proclamations, also seen in the series as the backdrop to key events.
You continue to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the King's official residence in Scotland, where the series stages politically charged scenes between Claire, Jamie and the representatives of the Crown. The view from the abbey gardens is spectacular. At sunset, a trip up Calton Hill offers a perfect panorama of the city, while the evening can end with dinner in one of the historic pubs in the centre, such as The World's End. Overnight in Edinburgh.
Giorno 2 — Edimburgo
A full day among the locations most loved by fans. You begin with Glencorse Old Kirk, the charming little country church where the series celebrates the wedding of Jamie and Claire. You continue to Hopetoun House, one of the finest stately homes in Scotland, used to represent the Duke of Sandringham's house and other interiors in the series.
A few minutes away lies Midhope Castle, better known as Lallybroch: the family home of Jamie Fraser. Although it can only be viewed from the outside, this building is an unmissable stop for anyone who has loved Outlander.
Next comes a visit to Blackness Castle, known as "the ship that never sailed", which appears in the series as Fort William. Its towers and sheer walls above the Firth of Forth create a dramatic atmosphere. You then reach Linlithgow Palace, a ruined royal residence and the place where Jamie is imprisoned in the series.
The day ends at Culross, a charming seventeenth-century village used as the set for Cranesmuir, home to Geillis Duncan and her husband. The cobbled streets, the palace with its herb garden and the old-world atmosphere make it one of the most evocative stops. Return to Edinburgh for the overnight stay.
