Itinerary
Giorno 1 — Tromso
I arrive and transfer freely to the hotel. Tromsø is one of the most fascinating gateways to the European Arctic, a vibrant city surrounded by mountains, fjords, and spectacular landscapes. Located above the Arctic Circle, it combines extreme nature, Nordic culture, and a surprisingly cosmopolitan atmosphere. During winter, it is considered one of the best places in the world to witness the Northern Lights, while in summer the Midnight Sun lights up endless days. The city preserves a strong identity connected to Sami traditions, fishing heritage, and historic polar expeditions. Tromsø also offers a growing gastronomic scene, engaging museums, and a lively cultural life. From here, visitors can join excursions to see whales, huskies, reindeer, and breathtaking snowy scenery straight out of a movie. Despite its northern location, the Gulf Stream gives the area a milder climate, making it an accessible destination year-round. It is the ideal place for travellers seeking authentic experiences, untouched nature, and a deeper connection with the Arctic world. Tromsø is not just a destination: it is where Arctic adventure meets contemporary Nordic lifestyle. Dinner free. Accommodation Clarion Collection Hotel Aurora.
Auto
Giorno 2 — Tromso → Bardu → Svolvaer
Breakfast. Departure for Bardu. Free lunch. Continue to Svolvaer. Svolvær is the lively capital of the Lofoten Islands, gathered around a harbour framed by jagged peaks that plunge into the sea. The beating heart of the archipelago, it is the starting point for exploring fishing villages, white beaches and spectacular fjords. From here you can set out on cruises to the striking Trollfjord, sea trips in search of white-tailed eagles and, in winter, photographic safaris for the northern lights. Above the town soars the famous Svolværgeita, the "Goat", a rocky pinnacle beloved by climbers. Among the traditional red rorbu cabins perched over the water, the drying stockfish and the summer midnight sun, Svolvær offers the most authentic essence of the Far North. Dinner free. Accommodation Thon Hotel Lofoten.
Auto
Giorno 3 — Svolvaer → Isole Lofoten → Svolvaer
Breakfast. Departure for Lofoten Islands. Continue your discovery of the Lofoten Islands, dominated by imposing snow-capped peaks mirrored in the sea. Separated from the mainland by the Vestfjord, these islands form a 150 km long chain of smaller islets and little bays where you can admire picturesque fishing villages whose main source of income is cod fishing; the cod is then dried in the open air to create stockfish, exported in large quantities to Italy too. But the Lofoten Islands are also rich in history, culture and folklore. Visiting the old fishing villages is a moment of constant discovery from a historical and cultural point of view. Afterwards, visit to the Lofotr Viking Museum. The museum stands on an archaeological site discovered in 1983, near Borg. Here a typical Viking settlement has been reconstructed, where we can learn more about the history, culture and traditions of these legendary peoples. In the evening, an exciting hunt for the Northern Lights with our tour escort awaits us. With a clear sky and if luck is on our side, we will be able to admire the spectacle of the Northern Lights dancing above us. Dinner free. Accommodation Thon Hotel Lofoten.
Auto
Giorno 4 — Svolvaer → Sortland (Vesteralen) → Harstad
Breakfast. We will board for a short crossing from Fiskebøl to Melbu, and then cross the islands of Hadseløya and Langøya, once again among snow-capped mountains, bridges and small villages, until we reach Sortland. Here an authentic Lapland experience awaits us. We will visit a reindeer farm, where we can learn about the culture of the Sami people and listen to their traditional songs while sitting around a fire inside a Lavvo (typical Sami tent). We continue by boarding for a short crossing from Flesnes to Refsnes, and then carry on towards Harstad. Dinner free. Accommodation Scandic Harstad.
Auto
Giorno 5 — Harstad → Tromso
Departure by express boat to Tromsø (7.00 am). Packed breakfast. Time available for optional activities. In the evening, we suggest one of Tromsø's most popular excursions: the hunt for the Northern Lights. Dinner free. Accommodation Quality Grand Tromso.
***OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES*** (see supplements).
NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE WITH DINNER: Admiring the Northern Lights out at sea is an unrivalled spectacle, far from light pollution, and in winter the chances of seeing the aurora rise to 80%. If you are lucky, you will be able to see the aurora with the naked eye and you can also take beautiful photographs with the help of the crew. During the cruise a dinner of fresh fish will be served, accompanied by a dessert and coffee or tea.
NORTHERN LIGHTS SAFARI BY MINIBUS: Each bus carries a professional driver and a licensed professional guide on board. This team has one specific mission: to take you where the chances of admiring this spectacle are at their best. To succeed, the guides rely on satellites that track the evolution of the phenomenon and choose the observation point on the basis of this data. This tour includes hot chocolate, biscuits and taking photographs of the aurora (weather permitting), which are then sent to you electronically. Meeting time: 18:45 / Meeting point: Radisson Blu Hotel / Duration: 5-7 hours / Bring boots, hat, scarf and gloves.
SNOWMOBILE SAFARI: After a transfer out of the city (approximately 1 hour and a half), we will find ourselves at the gateway to the Lynge Alps, or Lyngenalps. The trail covers a total distance of 30 km, with a height difference of 625 m. You have one snowmobile for 2 people: a driver and a passenger on each snowmobile, with the possibility of swapping places during the trip. The highlight of the tour is a frozen lake, where you can pick up speed. If the weather allows, you can try fishing in the lake. At the end of the activity, we will serve you a hot meal in a lavvu (Sami tent).
