Giorno 3 — Taman Negara → Cameron Highlands
Breakfast. At 08:00 we will cross the river and continue overland to the Kuala Tahan jetty before heading towards the Cameron Highlands, reachable in approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. Located at the northwestern edge of the State of Pahang, the Cameron Highlands are Malaysia’s largest cultivated highland plateau, alternating with lush and untamed montane forests. This region is renowned for its tea plantations and mild temperatures, offering a pleasant escape from the equatorial heat of the surrounding lowlands. The name “Cameron” derives from the English surveyor William Cameron, who first mapped the area. Even today, the Cameron Highlands retain the charm of the belle époque, with orderly farms, Tudor-style country houses, English lawns, and golf courses. You will visit one of the many tea plantations before enjoying a traditional Afternoon Tea in the afternoon, followed by visits to local fruit and vegetable markets. In the late afternoon, arrival at the resort, check-in, and the remainder of the evening and dinner at leisure.
Auto
Giorno 4 — Cameron Highlands → Ipoh → Bukit Merah → Penang
Breakfast. At approximately 07:30, departure with your guide from the hotel. We will head south towards Ipoh, the capital of Perak State, where we will visit one of the many Buddhist cave temples carved into the rock. The journey then continues northward to the royal town of Kuala Kangsar, home to the beautiful Ubudiah Mosque, entirely white with golden details, and where it will also be possible to admire the outline of the Sultan of Perak’s Palace. Continuing further north, we finally arrive at Bukit Merah, a small island on the lake reachable by boat, which is home to the Orangutan Conservation Centre, unique of its kind in Peninsular Malaysia. At this center, these primates — often found orphaned or close to death in the jungles of Malaysian Borneo — are cared for and rehabilitated. The center is also actively involved in research and educational programs aimed at raising awareness among federal authorities and younger generations about the future of orangutans, which are seriously endangered. Lunch at your own leisure. After lunch, the journey continues towards the state of Penang. Arrival on the island is expected in the afternoon, crossing one of the longest bridges in Asia, the Penang Bridge, which stretches for exactly 13.5 km. Arrival in Georgetown and check-in at your hotel in the afternoon. Dinner free. Available evening.
PLEASE NOTE: The tea plantation is closed to the public on Mondays and during national holidays. The excursion to the Orangutan Island in Bukit Merah may not be possible due to low water levels.
Giorno 5 — Penang
Breakfast. At approximately 08:15, meet your guide at the hotel. Begin the tour of Georgetown, whose unique historical character has earned the city UNESCO World Heritage status. The exploration of the city includes a visit to Kek Lok Si, a remarkable complex composed of seven temples and a towering pagoda. The site is distinguished by intricately carved pillars, fine woodwork, brightly colored paintings, and an abundance of lanterns that create a striking visual impression. Returning to the city center, you will pass by the ruins of Fort Cornwallis, once the headquarters of the British colonial military garrison. From here, continue with a walking tour through the charming streets of the old historic district, famous for its artistic murals, open-air food and spice markets, and the lively atmosphere that offers a glimpse into the city’s daily life. Along the way, you will also encounter small artisan workshops producing traditional utensils, incense sticks for temples, and local pastry delicacies. After passing in front of the Kapitan Keling Mosque and the beautiful St. George’s Church, symbol of the large local Christian community, the walk continues through the narrow streets lined with old Peranakan Chinese-Malay houses. Here you will visit the beautiful Khoo Kongsi clan house, named after one of the influential Chinese families who were among the wealthy merchants of the 17th century. The famous Khoo Kongsi temple was built in 1906, at a time when the Khoo community had reached the height of its wealth and prominence in Penang society. Dinner at leisure.
