Giorno 9 — Siem Reap (Angkor)
Breakfast. Today another day awaits you, dedicated to discovering the authentic beauty of Siem Reap and exploring its age-old culture in greater depth. You will board a typical tuk tuk - the characteristic local means of transport - to explore the peaceful countryside surrounding Siem Reap. You will travel among green rice paddies, traditional farms and rural villages, where you can observe the daily life of the local communities at close hand. Along the way you will stop at a local pagoda to admire its calm and spiritual beauty. The next stop will take you to a family that makes the famous Cambodian rice noodles by hand. You will have the chance to watch the various stages of the process, discovering gestures handed down through the generations, and to taste Nom Bahn Chok, a typical dish prepared with these same noodles - fresh, aromatic and full of authentic flavours. The tour will then continue to another village where the sugar palm is worked, one of the most precious resources of Cambodian agriculture. The inhabitants will show you how they turn the fruit into a variety of specialities. Do not be shy: this is the perfect opportunity to taste the local products and ask questions of the people who make them with such passion. After this engaging rural experience, you will head to a village pagoda, where you will take part in a moving blessing ceremony with the monks. Before the rite begins, your guide will give you a short introduction to Buddhism and monastic life, helping you to understand the deeper meaning of this spiritual moment. During the ceremony, the monks will chant sacred songs in their dialect while sprinkling holy water, offering protection and purification. At the end of the ritual, a red thread will be tied around your right wrist, a symbol of spiritual protection and good fortune: a simple gesture but one full of meaning, representing release from negative thoughts and the wish for luck, health and harmony (duration of the ceremony: approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour). Lunch at a restaurant. After lunch, you will resume your tour aboard a tuk tuk, heading for one of the most refined jewels of the Angkor complex: Banteay Srei, also known as the "Citadel of the Women". Built in delicate pink sandstone, this temple stands out for its finely chiselled carvings, depicting deities, mythological figures and floral motifs with a remarkable level of detail. Although modest in size compared with other temples, Banteay Srei is universally considered the most elegant and refined of the whole archaeological site. A true masterpiece of Khmer art that will enchant you with its grace and harmony. Depending on the time available and your own interests, you may continue your visit with a less frequented but equally fascinating temple, hidden among the vegetation of the Angkor Archaeological Park and still well preserved: a perfect opportunity to explore quieter, less touristy places full of atmosphere. The day will end with an exclusive and relaxing experience: sunset drinks amid the rural landscapes of Cambodia. Just a few kilometres from the temples of Angkor and the bustle of Siem Reap, a peaceful corner surrounded by greenery awaits you. Here, among the fields and the quiet of the countryside, you can enjoy a drink accompanied by local snacks as the sky turns warm and golden. The sun sets gently behind the palms and the rice paddies, creating a suspended, poetic atmosphere. An unforgettable moment, perfect for reflecting on the wonders discovered during the day and for letting yourself be enveloped by the magic of the most authentic Cambodia. Return to the hotel in the evening. Accommodation Sakmut Boutique hotel.
