Itinerary

Giorno 1 — Città del Capo

I arrive and transfer to the hotel. Cape Town rises in one of the most spectacular natural settings on earth, hemmed between the ocean and the towering flat-topped wall of Table Mountain, which presides over South Africa’s most beloved city. The cableway to the summit unveils 360-degree views over the city, the peninsula and the Atlantic, while the trails of Table Mountain National Park — UNESCO-listed as part of the Cape Floral Region — wind through the world’s unique endemic fynbos vegetation. The historic heart reveals itself on foot around the Company’s Garden and the city-centre museums, while the Malay quarter of Bo-Kaap dazzles with its vividly painted houses and historic mosques, the legacy of a community with deep roots and a spice-rich cuisine to sample in its small eateries. Along the seafront, the V&A Waterfront blends a working harbour with markets, boutiques and seafood restaurants, and is the departure point for boats to Robben Island, the prison island where Nelson Mandela spent many years of captivity and which is now a place of memory. To the south the peninsula unfolds along scenic roads such as Chapman’s Peak Drive towards the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, where the oceans seem to meet; along the way, Boulders Beach shelters a colony of African penguins. The beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton, beneath the Twelve Apostles, invite relaxation, while a short drive away the winelands of Constantia, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek offer tastings among vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture. Between grand landscapes, a complex history and a lively food scene, Cape Town is best savoured slowly, letting the sea, the mountain and the African light tell their story. Time available to visit the city. Meeting with the guide at the reception at 18.00 for an informative orientation on the trip. Dinner free. Accommodation Protea Breakwater Lodge Waterfront.

Giorno 2 — Città del Capo

Breakfast. Departure for Penisola del Capo. The Cape Peninsula, situated south of Cape Town, is one of South Africa’s most spectacular regions, characterised by breathtaking landscapes, cliffs plunging into the ocean, unspoilt beaches and lush natural surroundings. Along the route, you’ll come across picturesque spots such as Hout Bay, the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive and the famous African penguin colony at Boulders Beach. The journey continues towards the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, within a nature reserve teeming with flora and fauna, where imposing cliffs overlook the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean. An unmissable excursion to discover some of South Africa’s most captivating scenery. Return to the hotel. Dinner free. Accommodation Protea Breakwater Lodge Waterfront.

Auto

Giorno 3 — Città del Capo → Cape Winelands

Breakfast. Departure for Cape Winelands. The Cape Winelands, also known as the Boland ("upland"), are the heart of South Africa's wine-producing region. Stretching inland from Cape Town, this renowned area is characterised by rolling vineyard-covered hills, dramatic mountain ranges and breathtaking scenery. The surrounding mountains create a unique microclimate, providing ideal conditions for the production of world-class wines.
The region is home to three iconic destinations. Stellenbosch, founded by the Dutch in the 17th century, is celebrated for its elegant Cape Dutch architecture, prestigious wine estates and vibrant atmosphere. Franschhoek, established by French Huguenot settlers, is regarded as South Africa's culinary capital, renowned for its award-winning restaurants, innovative chefs and exceptional wineries. Paarl, dominated by the impressive Paarl Rock, has emerged as a must-visit destination, offering historic wine estates, authentic charm and a thriving food and wine scene.
Beyond award-winning wine tastings, the Cape Winelands offer scenic drives, local markets, outdoor activities and unforgettable culinary experiences, making the region a perfect blend of nature, culture and gastronomy. Free lunch. In the afternoon, a visit to two wineries and a tasting of some of South Africa’s finest wines. Continuation to Stellenbosch. Dinner free. Accommodation Stellenbosch Hotel.

Auto

Giorno 4 — Cape Winelands → Namaqua National Park

Breakfast. In the morning, an orientation visit of the city. Free lunch. Departure for Namaqua National Park. Namaqualand is a remote region in north-western South Africa, on the border with Namibia, characterised by semi-desert landscapes, granite mountains and vast plains. Although it appears arid for much of the year, between August and September, thanks to the winter rains, it is transformed into one of the world’s most extraordinary natural spectacles: millions of wildflowers bloom simultaneously, covering the landscape with an incredible mosaic of colours. This phenomenon, known as the ‘Namaqualand bloom’, attracts visitors and photographers from all over the world every year. As well as the famous bloom, the region boasts rich biodiversity, numerous endemic species and unspoilt landscapes, ideal for hiking and scenic drives. The best time to visit is from mid-August to mid-September, when nature is at its most spectacular. In the late afternoon, there will be a tasting of local wines at the guesthouse, offering an opportunity to discover the region’s winemaking tradition. Dinner. Accommodation Highlanders Guesthouse.

Auto

Giorno 5 — Namaqua National Park → Augrabies Falls & Orange River

Breakfast. Departure for Augrabies Falls. The Augrabies Falls plunge more than fifty metres into a granite gorge carved by the Orange River, in the arid heart of the Northern Cape. The Khoi people called it “Aukoerebis”, the “place of great noise”, and the roar of water hurling itself into the canyon more than earns the name. The national park around it is a semi-desert landscape dotted with kokerboom (quiver trees), home to oryx, springbok and baboons. Walkways lead to the most dramatic viewpoints over the falls. It is a destination that pairs the raw power of nature with the austere beauty of the South African semi-desert. In the afternoon, a visit to the main vantage points from which to admire the extraordinary scenery offered by Victoria Falls. Dinner free. Accommodation Augrabies Falls Lodge.

Auto

Giorno 6 — Augrabies Falls & Orange River → Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (Sudafrica)

Breakfast. Departure for Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (South Africa). Red dunes and dry riverbeds define the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, an immense protected area straddling South Africa and Botswana, at the heart of the Kalahari Desert. Africa's first transfrontier park, it is an arid, untamed realm where silence is broken only by the wind and the calls of wildlife. Along the Auob and Nossob riverbeds, which rarely flow, the sightings concentrate: the famed black-maned Kalahari lions, cheetahs, leopards, oryx, springbok and packs of hyenas, while eagles and vultures patrol the skies. The warm light of dawn and dusk turns the dunes into landscapes of intense colour. Remote and deeply atmospheric, Kgalagadi is a destination for true nature lovers, where the vastness of the desert delivers unforgettable emotions. I will arrive at the lodge in the afternoon. Dinner. Accommodation Kgalagadi Lodge.

Giorno 7 — Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (Sudafrica)

Breakfast. The safari is carried out with the same means of transport as the tour, with your guide. With an additional fee, it is possible to do safaris with open 4x4 cars in English. Return to the lodge in the evening. Dinner. Accommodation Kgalagadi Lodge.

Auto

Giorno 8 — Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (Sudafrica) → Fish River Canyon

Breakfast. Departure for Fish River Canyon. Fish River Canyon is one of the largest canyons in the world and the second deepest gorge on the African continent after the Grand Canyon: approximately 160 km long, up to 27 km wide and more than 550 metres deep, it has been carved by the Fish River into the semi-arid plateau of southern Namibia, within the Ai-Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park. The viewpoints along the canyon's southern rim — reachable by car — offer breathtaking views of the sheer gorge and the river's meanders snaking along the valley floor during the dry season. The Fish River Canyon Hiking Trail, one of the most celebrated treks in southern Africa, covers the entire canyon over five days of walking (around 90 km), and is open only between May and September for climatic safety reasons. The spa village of Ai-Ais, at the foot of the canyon, features sulphurous hot springs and thermal pools that Namibians visit as a relaxation retreat at the end of summer. The canyon is often visited in combination with Lüderitz and Sossusvlei as part of the classic southern Namibia circuit. At sunset, a visit to the many vantage points around the Fish River Canyon. Return to the hotel. Dinner. Accommodation Canyon Village, Gondwana Collection .

Auto

Giorno 9 — Fish River Canyon → Kalahari (Namibia)

Breakfast. Continuation to Kalahari Desert. The Namibian Kalahari spreads across the southern and south-eastern part of the country, a vast semi-arid basin of reddish dunes anchored by vegetation where the shrub savanna creates landscapes of silent, desert beauty. Despite what its name might suggest, it is not a true desert: rainfall, though sparse and irregular, supports a vegetative cover of acacia trees, Kalahari grass and thorny shrubs that sustain a surprisingly rich wildlife. Gemsbok (oryx), wildebeest with paler coats than their southern subspecies counterparts, jackals, mongooses and a variety of raptors move among the dunes in a scene of boundless tranquility. The Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, shared with Botswana and South Africa in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, offers safaris among some of the most iconic red dunes in southern Africa, with sightings of black-maned lions that have adapted to arid conditions. The luxury lodges and tented camps in Namibia's Kalahari region organise dawn game drives, guided walks with San bushmen to learn traditional survival techniques, and nights under skies of extraordinary clarity, far from any light pollution. The Namibian Kalahari is an ideal choice for travellers seeking solitude, cultural authenticity and African landscapes less visited than the great parks of the north. A suggestive evening off-road excursion to admire the sunset from the red dunes while sipping an aperitif. During the trip, you will have the opportunity to see springbok antelopes, zebras, wildebeest, and even weaver birds. Return to the lodge. Dinner. Accommodation Kalahari Anib Lodge, Gondwana Collection Namibia.

Auto

Giorno 10 — Kalahari (Namibia) → Sossusvlei

Breakfast. Departure for Sossusvlei. The Namib Desert is one of the oldest on Earth, famous for the beauty of its dunes, some of the tallest in the world. These dunes are protected by the Namib-Naukluft Park, a national park larger than Switzerland. Arrival at the lodge in the late afternoon. Dinner. Accommodation Namib Desert Lodge.

Giorno 11 — Sossusvlei

Breakfast. Wake up in the early hours of the morning to admire the spectacle of the sunrise on the highest sand dunes in the world, which change color with the changing light. The morning continues with a visit to Dead Vlei, a very suggestive salt pan created by the evaporation of a section of the Tsauchab River and surrounded by monumental dunes; the vlei is reached by a walk of about 5 km (about an hour and a half); the silence is almost unreal and the color contrasts are strong: the black of the "camelthorn" trees, the white of the clayey ground, the reddish tones of the dunes that stand out against the intense blue of the sky. In the afternoon, a short excursion to the Sesriem Canyon, carved by the erosive action of wind and water 18 million years ago. Return to the lodge. Dinner. Accommodation Namib Desert Lodge.

Altro

Giorno 12 — Sossusvlei → Windhoek

Breakfast. Departure for Windhoek. With approximately 350,000 inhabitants, Windhoek is the capital and largest city of Namibia. Located in a lush valley between the Auas mountains, at an altitude of 1,700 meters, Windhoek is a pleasant city with a European atmosphere that blends colonial tradition and modernity. Due to its central location, it is the ideal gateway to the rest of the country. Time available to visit the city. In the evening, dinner at the famous Joe’s Beerhouse, one of the city’s most iconic restaurants. Accommodation Arebbusch Travel Lodge.

Giorno 13 — Windhoek
